Sterling Silver

Sterling silver is high grade silver that consists of 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% of other alloys. This combination makes the silver durable and beautiful. Majority of the silver in Momoko Hatano's jewellery is Australian sourced with the exception of some findings that are sourced over seas when they cannot be sourced locally. This means majority of the silver is recycled in or mined in Australia. This ensures the quality of the metal and the mining processes meet Australian standards unlike some "sterling silver" from overseas that may consist less silver and produced in a way that is environmentally and socially unethical.

Diamonds
-
All of our diamonds are conflict free. We only use Australian diamonds from the Argyle mines in WA or reclaimed diamonds that have been up-cycled from antique jewellery. Reclaimed diamonds are equally beautiful and bright as brand new diamonds, some have been recut from an older design to a contemporary design and some have been re-polished. Diamonds are the hardest on the MOH’s scale, meaning they are the hardest natural precious gem on earth, it is rarely scratched or chipped. In our view, reclaimed diamonds are the most environmentally responsible because this means there is no need for new mines and that's why we like to use them.
